The Security Industry Authority (SIA) Has Set The Guidelines And Standards For Approved Close Protection Training. In March 2006 it became the law that you must have a license to work in Close Protection operations. To obtain a license you must complete and pass a course that is compliant with the specifications as laid down by the SIA. We are fully approved to offer this standard.
The course is 11 days in duration and is a combination of classroom and practical exercises. It is an intensive course and all sections of the course must be completed to allow you to apply for your license. Our training centre in Aberdeen is the perfect training environment. As one of, if not 'the best' training centre in the whole of Scotland, we are based at the city centre of Aberdeen to ensure privacy and comfort. We have a purpose built training/study room as well as an indoor and outdoor training areas.
Our central base is a 5- 10 walk from the city centre of Aberdeen, where there are many shopping centres and restaurants. If you would like to visit us at the training centre in Aberdeen before committing to a course, you are most welcome. We require 48 hours notice and you will need to bring formal identification with you. The training centre is a private building and all visitors are strictly by appointment.
If you pass the course you will obtain a Certificate In Protective Security from our awarding body City and Guilds . This accompanied with a First Aid At Work Qualification will allow you to apply to the Security Industry Authority for a Front Line Close Protection License.
We make a commitment to our students; over the last fourteen years many of our students still work for us and most are still in touch, but some still seek our guidance from time to time. As a further commitment to our students; for those who pass our training we will agree to mentor you free of charge for three years. To do this; when you pass you will receive a Close Protection pin badge at a small cost, certificate and awarding photograph with the IPPS Managing Director and Head Of Training. All communications with the IPPS team will be in the strictest of confidence. You will be able to seek advice on contracts, tendering, employment status and working opportunities to name a few. We will not be able to answer legal based questions or provide legal guidance; we do however give a promise to all federation members that you will receive a response within 24 hours of your question.
