This course is designed to give a candidate the concept of using handcuffs rather than a course for specific types of handcuff.
The candidate will learn about various types of handcuffs thereby learning the good and bad aspects of each style. When operational it will not matter which type the candidate is issued, as the correct application will be firmly fixed in their mind. Certification is on successful completion of a practical and written evaluation.
It is recommended that candidates reclassify every 12 months in order to remain court credible.

Level 2 Intermediate Award in the Safe and Effective Use of Restraint Equipment

This course is suitable for individual expected to use restraint equipment (handcuffs) as part of their operational role.

       Loading of Handcuffs.

       Powers of arrest.

       Applying Handcuffs.

       Types of positions.

       Handcuff - Passive.

       Handcuff - Active.

       Positional Asphyxia.

       Excited Delirium

All of the IPPS handcuff instructors are NFPS certified and BTEC level three qualified instructors, so that you will be getting the best possible training regarding the use of the handcuffs.

The course is run over two days at a cost of £160 per person.
After completion of the course the candidate will receive a certificate and a ID card valid for 12 months.
